About Marine Landscapes
The series makes even thicker the texture that involves things. Images are made from a negative product from the collage of several others’ parts, with adhesive tape and heat. The result are images of great density, an atmosphere endowed with heavy materiality. In Cássio Vasconcellos’s pictures, texture becomes a medium. It cements different elements, it articulates fragments of different origins. The landscape seems a massive horizon, in which the photographer tears the contour of things.
